About Lisa Shaw’s Pryvate Parts

This is the conversation that took place in my head when faced with writing about myself:

Depression/Anxiety/PTSD: I don’t want to write this “ABOUT” thingy and you can’t make me.

Me: Yes, but you really NEED to write something here so people know what you are “about.”

Depression/Anxiety/PTSD: Don’t be ridiculous, no one cares!

Me: People DO care.  They are trying to figure out if you are someone they have something in common with.  Someone they can relate to.  Come on, you got this!

Depression/Anxiety/PTSD: Fine!  You are going to blow it anyway!

Me: You’re an ass!

Depression/Anxiety/PTSD:  Am not!

Me: Are too!

If I had an unlimited amount of money, I’d donate most of it to helping folks like me who are suffering with mental illness.  I’d throw “You Are Awesome” parties with bouncy castles, piñatas shaped like rude people, and bean bag chairs.  When I wasn’t doing that, I’d be writing, teaching people how to sing, being a transracial adoptive parent, and trying to convince myself to stop eating so many goddam cookies.

You can find my often humorous and sometimes poignant Pryvate Parts at The Huffington PostScary Mommy, Love What MattersBlunt Moms, Sammiches and Psych Meds, The Mighty, and Word Press Discover where something I wrote about my kid was chosen as one of the Best Posts of 2016. That list is growing, so now would be an excellent time to hire me.

Not to brag, okay, totally to brag, the President hired me, so I must be at least able to pass a security clearance and show up, right?

You can also find some of my best work at Yeah Write’s weekly writing contest, where numerous Pryvate Parts have been awarded the coveted “Editor’s Pick,” as well as “Crowd Fave.”  You can see which ones here.

Want to know more about me?  Email me anytime!   I ALWAYS write back.  I’m nice like that.

Chips Ahoy,
Lisa Shaw

P.S. My cat Higgins has a mustache.

  3. I just found your blog! Your humor is a God-send. I am a SAHM with a child with ADHD, ODD, and ASD. I have GAD and suffered through horrendous PPD.
Are you tracking with my acronyms (I swear my life is just a long list of freaking capital letters)? If not, contact me ASAP.
